How does CES authenticate academic documents?

When you apply for an ECA report from CES, all the scanned copies of your academic documents and the official academic record received directly from your issuing institution are examined and reviewed for any tampering or alternation. 

Our assessment team compares the scanned copies of your final award and transcript and your official academic record to our in-house samples issued around the same time period.

Your physical official academic record is examined first to determine the institutional envelope has not been tampered when it arrives at our office. Then our assessment team review the format and content to ensure the official academic record meets our required and accepted for assessment. 

If your official academic record is received electronically, our assessment team first confirms the official academic record was sent from an acceptable institutional email address that can be confirmed using our internal resources. Then, the content and format of your official academic record are reviewed to ensure it meets our requirement and accepted for assessment. 

CES may also verify your academic documents using governmental or institutional online registration databases and institution results archives. If the official academic record shows inconsistency or discrepancies, we will contact the appropriate issuing institution's office to source verify the authenticity of your credential(s) and academic documents. 

When CES initiates the source verification with the issuing institution for your credential, your application will be on hold until a response is received from the institution directly. 

If CES confirms any document submitted for assessment is not authentic, we will not issue an ECA report. No refund will be provided, either.
